Yellow Is The New Pink

With the winds of autumn, a gust of yellow and gold has blown into the showroom. Welcome to ‘The Runway Issue’, our third exhibition, which unfolds as an inspirational staging of our collection inspired by the fashion world’s runway show!

The third exhibition has transformed the grand halls of the old cinema into a runway stage of its own kind: a sapphire yellow catwalk snakes its way through the showroom, ending in an enticing golden cave in the downstairs gallery.

AW17 exhibition: The Runway Issue

The idea to showcase the visual identity of the brand, and to create spaces that echo Normann Copenhagen’s design DNA, is what drives the extensive transformations, which the showroom undergoes every six months.

Design & Concept Developer, Sabine Larsen, who has been part of the development of the past two exhibition, explains: “After 'Discovering Spaces', which revolved around a maze and discovering the different environments hidden behind velour-clad room dividers, the showroom has now opened up, and all furniture is elevated onto one long catwalk."

“We are seeing a trend in interior that is moving towards darker colors and warmer shades,” Sabine Larsen says. "In the exhibit, an array of dark tones and heavy upholsteries can be spotted, which give depth and contrast to the bright yellow runway."

The color range du jour is earthy and alluring: soft fawn and gleaming sapphire yellow blend into warm terracotta and deep cocoa in a medley of artsy compositions, ‘70s glamour and timeless classics.

With piled high arrangements, oversized buckled-up foam blocks, and VIP-worthy front row seating, the scene is set for an awe-inspiring show.

The yellow runway continues to lead visitors down velvety steps and into the downstairs gallery of the showroom, where a golden treasure box of alluring lighting installations awaits.

Stepping into the gallery, a total installation envelops the visitor: monochrome yellow floors and walls and sculptural elements of light give course and movement to the winding runway.

“Especially in autumn and winter, the golden walls and yellow catwalk give the room a light and texture that feels embracing and calming.” - Sabine Larsen

“Yellow stands for positivity and energy. Especially in autumn and winter, the golden walls and yellow catwalk give the room a light and texture that feels embracing and calming,” Sabine Larsen adds.

Like a hidden wonderland of gleaming lights, the various installations of light invite to get lost in artsy compositions and infinite reflections. In this treasure chest of lit lamps and devouring streams of gold, one thing becomes crystal clear: yellow is the new pink!
