Drape

About

Drape

Drape is a lounge chair collection characterized by its sharp precision and soft curves. The upholstery is “draped” around the chair giving an elegant and organic outline, inviting you to take a well-deserved rest.

Drape is an uncompromising design, in which comfort and aesthetics go hand in hand. A hard molded PU foam shell w. steel reinforcement ensures stability and strength, while a soft molded PU foam seat gives optimum comfort, as it shapes itself according to the body contours making it ideal for relaxation and leisure.

Drape is available in our wide selection of upholstery and can be altered with two different base variations. The steel base has a light and slim silhouette giving a sleeker and more modern look, while the solid oak legs add a warm and artisanal touch to the design. Drape also offers additional customization than any other product in the extensive Normann Copenhagen collection. With piping following the desired upholstery chosen for the seat, Drape can be modified down to the smallest detail. Make a bold statement and choose contrasting piping and seat cover to add a personal touch or adorn the lounge chair in the same upholstery to create a coherent visual expression.

Designer

Simon Legald

Simon Legald graduated from The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in the summer of 2012. His work consists of both small- and large scale products. Simon’s designs are often created in a dialogue between craftsmanship and industry. He also likes to incorporate the techniques that are necessary for the structure of a product into the design by highlighting them visually.

“Honesty is what makes a product understandable and is what describes the products functionality. If you understand the product, it does not need any explanation. The essence of my design is for it to be bought and used. Therefore, it has to satisfy not only the functional aspects, but also the psychological and aesthetic needs. For me simplicity describes the true identity of objects and makes them trustworthy. In my design, I try not to add any unnecessary details. I work with simplicity by highlighting the necessities instead of hiding them. It gives the product a simple and honest expression.”
