As a result of their many years within the design industry, both have become central characters in the Danish design community and are internationally acclaimed as two of Denmark’s most recognized and established furniture designers. Together they are Foersom & Hiort-Lorenzen, and with a shared love for innovation, craftsmanship and functionality, they have received numerous awards for their designs both nationally and internationally.  

About their design approach, Foersom & Hiort-Lorenzen explain: “The understanding of the sociological, ergonomic and human aspects are extremely important when creating a good design. We work at the intersection of these elements, while simultaneously striving to challenge the norms of materials and production processes. The fascinating part for us is when form, function, material and innovation merge into a design that people want to use, not just now, but for generations”. 

With their significant craftsmanship and academic experience, the design duo has a documented success within their work with innovative materials, technological processes and great skillfulness. For Normann Copenhagen, Foersom & Hiort-Lorenzen have created Mat – a design that draws on their many years of design experience, innovative materials, innovative production processes and the desire for a long, even eternal, life cycle.
