About

Seam

Level Rug and Seam Rug are inspired by tailoring techniques, presenting an intricate balance of experimentation and precision informed by the designer’s background in fashion. The result is two distinct rug collections that feel both timeless and innovative.

"The idea behind these collections was to reflect the construction and references of tailoring—suits, weaving methods, layering, and pattern details. As the designs evolved, I focused on combining these elements in new ways, allowing them to grow into two unique products, each with its own story." – Designer, Urd Moll Gundermann.

Hand-woven from 100% wool, Seam Rug draws inspiration from classic tailoring stitching. Available in Grey and Blue, the design features bold, magnified seams in complementary hues, creating a detailed yet understated elegance. The design is crafted using a traditional weaving technique that draws parallels to tailoring textiles.

Urd Moll Gundermann

The Danish designer Urd Moll Gundermann grew up in a creative home with a father who was a visual artist. Their conversations and his approach to work helped shape her understanding of design and art. “Even as a child, I knew I had an inner drive to create, and that my future lay in the creative field,” she explains.
After earning a Master’s degree specializing in clothing and textiles from the Royal Danish Academy, Urd further developed her expertise in fashion, print, and industrial design –leading her to her current role as Head of Design at esteemed Danish design house Linie Design, which creates handmade rugs.
For Urd, design is about storytelling. Her intuitive and exploratory approach reflects a deep fascination with materials – how textures, contrasts, and harmonies can evoke emotions. Her inspirations are many and range from art in all its forms to the changing light of nature, architectural shapes, reflections on water, and the tactile qualities of surfaces. “Design is more than form and function – it’s a dialogue with the space it inhabits. A well-executed piece doesn’t just exist; it engages, evokes emotion, and takes on a life of its own,” Urd elaborates.

For Normann Copenhagen, Urd has created the Seam Rug and the Level Rug – two designs inspired by tailoring techniques, rooted in her background in fashion
