John Kørner Exhibition at Kunsthal Charlottenborg

The Ace sofa moved inside the exhibition halls of Kunsthal Charlottenborg for a 1000m2 retrospective of John Kørner. As the only interior within the exhibit, the sofas offer a carefully curated resting spot for visitors.

In a subtle contrast to the subdued green walls, the red velvet Ace sofas exude timeless luxury and elegance in the lofty halls of Copenhagen’s renowned Kunsthal Charlottenborg. Here they create a comforting and contemplative atmosphere for visitors of the Kørner exhibition.

John Kørner, who is arguably one of Denmark’s most significant contemporary artists, is showing a large scale retrospective of his work at Kunsthal Charlottenborg in Copenhagen this summer. The exhibition includes a mix of figurative and abstract paintings, as well as site-specific, immersive installations, where the strong colors of the paintings are emphasized by colored walls and monochrome colored rooms.

The Ace sofa is designed by young Danish designer Hans Hornemann, who also designed the Rope sofas, which recently filled Kunsthal Charlottenborg for CPH:DOX festival center. For the Kørner exhibition, Kunsthal Charlottenborg chose the velvet clad Ace sofas to serve as a resting spot for visitors to take in the powerful artworks by Kørner, which often reflect current political and social questions.

The exhibition will be shown at Kunsthal Charlottenborg in Copenhagen until August 13th, 2017.
