About

Haus Toolbox

Haus Toolbox is a versatile and thoughtfully designed storage solution created by Swiss-German design duo Hannes & Fritz. Blending industrial durability with a refined aesthetic, Haus Toolbox is an essential organizational piece for a wide variety of uses—whether in the home, workspace, or studio.

With cues from classic metal toolboxes, the design embraces a minimal yet highly functional approach. Taking its name from the German word for “house,” Haus Toolbox embraces an open, architectural structure that provides ample storage without rigid compartments, allowing users to arrange their essentials freely. Crafted from powder coated steel, the toolbox reinforces a raw, industrial appeal. A smooth wooden handle adds a warm, tactile contrast, ensuring a comfortable grip, effortless portability and a sense of familiarity.

Haus Toolbox embodies the spirit of adaptability, whether it holds tools, stationery, toiletries or even kitchen essentials.

Hannes & Fritz

Hannes & Fritz is a design duo working between Stuttgart and Zürich, where Johannes and Fritz develop each project through an iterative, back-and-forth process. They first met during their Master’s program in Product Design at ECAL in Lausanne, discovering a shared passion for hands-on experimentation and an intuitive approach to design. They gained experience at studios and in diverse design project across Zürich, Los Angeles, Hong Kong & Milan, and it was a self-produced limited-edition bench that quickly sold out, that ultimately led them to found their studio in 2019. This confirmed their belief in their creative synergy and marked the beginning of their journey as a design studio.

For Hannes & Fritz, design is about discovering logic in the unexpected—an interplay between functionality and subtle surprises. Their process is deeply rooted in craftsmanship, frequently working in their workshop, allowing ideas to emerge through making. They embrace a philosophy where no single vision dominates; instead, their designs are shaped by discussion, challenge, and evolution, resulting in objects that feel distinctly ‘them.’

“The best indicator of good design,” they reflect, “is when you see it for the first time and think, ‘Wow, I could have had that thought.’ It feels so obvious, yet entirely new.” For Normann Copenhagen, Hannes & Fritz have designed the Haus Toolbox, a refined take on the nowadays common plastic toolbox, now reimagined in metal and wood. Through its thoughtful materiality and clean yet characterful aesthetic, the Haus Toolbox exemplifies Hannes & Fritz’s approach: functional, familiar, and built to last.
