Maintenance:

The PET Felt surface may be cleansed with water. To remove stains, gently dab the area with a dry cloth while the material is still damp. Avoid rubbing the surface as it may harm the material or produce excessive pilling. Allow the surface to air-dry naturally.

It is advisable to utilize professional cleaning products for cleansing the PET Felt surface. However, we recommend testing these cleaning agents on an inconspicuous area first.

Regular vacuuming of the PET Felt surface is recommended to eliminate dust particles.

To prevent damage to the material, it is advisable to keep the product away from heat sources such as heaters, fireplaces, and hair dryers.

About

Colu Basket

Designed by Belgian designer Baptiste Vandaele, Colu Basket combines a contemporary aesthetic with practical functionality, crafted from recycled PET felt – a soft yet durable material derived from discarded post-consumer plastic bottles.

Inspired by the timeless elegance of Roman columns, Baptiste Vandaele translates classical architecture into a modern storage solution. The basket’s distinctive, rhythmic repetition of hollowed arches flow seamlessly into integrated handles, embodying the designer’s core philosophy of ‘form follows function.’

"In my work, I aim to rethink archetypes," explains Baptiste. "With Colu, I wanted to challenge basic shapes, infusing them with a sense of rythm and tactility, all while maintaining practicality".

With its balanced proportions and versatile utility, Colu Basket presents an aesthetic yet functional solution for organizing magazines, toys or household essentials. Its lightweight yet sturdy construction ensures it meets the demands of everyday life, while its understated elegance allows it to blend seamlessly into any modern living

Designer

Baptiste Vandaele

Born in Kortrijk, Belgium, in 1999, Baptiste Vandaele is an innovative designer with a passion for creating that began during high school, where he studied visual and architectural arts. This early foundation inspired his pursuit of industrial design, leading to a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Product Design at Howest in Kortrijk, where he graduated with honors. Despite being accepted to the prestigious Royal College of Art in London, he chose to establish his own design studio at just 21 years old. For Baptiste, design is about more than aesthetics – it’s about transforming spaces and creating joy through functional, timeless products. Rooted in the "form follows function" philosophy, his work reimagines archetypal forms with playful, unexpected twists while bridging creativity and craftsmanship.
For Normann Copenhagen, Baptiste has designed Colu, a collection of felt baskets made from recycled PET bottles, blending patterns inspired by architectural columns with functional handles and a striking interplay of light and shadow. The collection exemplifies his ability to harmonize resourceful materials with contemporary, useful design.
