Play Coat Rack
From Table Football to Coat Rack
Play is a coat rack in a light-hearted and fun design created by the Norwegian design studio Gridy. They were inspired by the tiny players of a table football game which gave them the idea for the pegs. This charming coat rack sends out a warm invitation to hang jackets, coats, hats and scarves.
Play was displayed for the first time as a part of Greenhouse at the Stockholm Furniture Fair in 2013. The Greenhouse area is where new talents get the opportunity to exhibit their prototypes and meet manufacturers at the fair. It was here that the founders of Normann Copenhagen, Poul Madsen and Jan Andersen, saw Play and fell in love with it immediately.
The Norwegian design studio Gridy was established in 2009 by Wilhelm Grieg Teisner and Lars Olav Dybdal. The duo has a minimalistic approach to design, which is firmly rooted in Scandinavian traditions. Gridy strives to create simple and honest products that are user friendly and have a Nordic feel. They combine rational approach with aesthetic and humor in order to make designs with character.
Design for us should have character and fulfill a purpose without screaming for attention. Good design should have a rational use of materials and be intuitive to use. Our ambition is always to create long-lasting design. We like honest use of materials and unexpected details that gives a product character and makes it interesting.
