DESIGNER SPOTLIGHT - SASKIA HUEBNER

At Normann Copenhagen, design is always a collaboration. Behind many of our products are external designers whose creativity, curiosity, and craft shape the objects we bring into everyday life. With our Designer Spotlight series, we invite you to step closer to these voices—exploring not only the ideas and processes that fuel their work but also the personal stories, spaces, and rituals that inspire them.

Designer Spotlight - Saskia Huebner

For Saskia, designis a tool to create meaning. “Objects should exist for a reason – whether functional, emotional, or ideally both,” she explains.

While form and function remain central to her process, her focus has gradually shifted toward the stories objects carry and the emotions they evoke. Climate narratives, material responsibility, and the impact of everyday choices increasingly shape how she approaches new designs.

Simplicity is key to her philosophy. Each shape is refined with care, aiming for clarity and harmony within a space. Rather than designing for herself, Saskia designs for people – “My goal is to create objects that feel intuitive, relatable, and capable of being carried into someone else’s life and context, rather than simply my own”.

Her inspiration often begins with research. A small detail within a larger story can be enough to spark a new idea, leading her toward forms and materials that communicate gently rather than loudly. This sensitivity is reflected in her daily environment as well. She lives in a small red house in the center of Aarhus, Denmark’s second largest city. The house is spread across two compact floors, where every object is chosen deliberately. Nothing is unnecessary; everything has a purpose and a place.

Her workshop is another defining space – part studio, part evolving moodboard. It’s where materials accumulate, ideas overlap, and where she has experienced significant professional growth. Here, experimentation and making go hand in hand.

If design hadn’t become her path, Saskia imagines she would have found her way into art – another way of telling stories through form, material, and emotion.
