About

Pinch Cheese Grater

If you have ever felt the frustration of grating cheese over your pasta only to find it all over the table, you'll love Normann Copenhagen’s Pinch Cheese Grater. Pinch consists of two parts, a stainless steel grater and a flexible plastic collection pan, that slot together into a practical and innovative kitchen utensil. The collection pan helps prevent spills on the table by guiding the ingredients in the desired direction.

The sharp grating surface makes Pinch perfect for grating ingredients finely. With its soft, rounded curves, Pinch is both practical and aesthetically pleasing. The fine grater efficiently grates various cheeses but also other types of ingredients such as nutmeg, chocolate, lemon, etc.

The two parts can be taken apart easily and put in the dishwasher.

The Berlin-based design studio was founded in 2007 by Moritz Böttcher and Sören Henssler. They both studied product design at the University of Applied Sciences and Arts in Hannover. In 2013 the designer Nikolaus Kayser joined the team. Since 2014, the trio has been working under the name Böttcher Henssler Kayser. Since starting, they have been rewarded several awards, including the prestigious red dot: best of the best award. The goal for Böttcher Henssler Kayser is to create simple but original products without unnecessary details where techniques, materials and aesthetics work together in products that break with the trivial.

Böttcher Henssler Kayser explains: “Design means everyday culture. It helps us to enjoy and simplify life. We are fascinated by the process that starts with an idea, becomes substance and hopefully results in a long and pleasurable use for its qualities. That’s how we understand reasonability and sustainability. Our philosophy is to be as unbiased as possible to solve a complex task that ends in useful, clever and emotional objects.”
